July 2026 Update

July2026

Being interviewed by Jonny Harding at Elim Life Church in Kingstanding, on our final Sunday in the UK (28th June 2026).

Dear Friends

…And to our new subscribers, welcome! We’re so glad that you are here with us on this wild journey for Jesus, in Japan!

Well, as predicted, it indeed has been a very, very full couple of months on ‘Home Assignment’ in the UK! We can’t believe we’re back in Tokyo already, but in the short time we’ve had in the UK, it’s been full of great highs and some hardships.

Unfortunately, 2 weeks prior to flying back, I was in excruciating pain that revealed that I had a kidney stone. After being rushed to A&E in a Japanese local hospital, I’d gotten surgery for a kidney stent the next day. Though there are so many amazing things to share about Japanese healthcare, unfortunately for me in this case, it was a really difficult experience (especially when the anaesthesia didn’t work). In all of this, we can see how good our loving Father has been to us. The timing of things meant that I was discharged a few days before flying back so ‘Home Assignment’ could go ahead. We give glory to God, because days after arriving in Japan, the doctor confirmed that there is no more kidney stone! Praise God!! And thank you to all who prayed! Your prayers worked!

Some of the difficulties meant working our schedules around looking after Jordan’s mum which took some time and planning; who unfortunately had an accident a few months back, this accident had left her with minimal mobility, but we praise God that now she is regaining some of that movement and has surgery planned to repair the issues in her spine which is causing the pain. Would you pray for her healing?

Some of the highs have included seeing some of you!! It has been so encouraging, uplifting and comforting to be able to see some of you, whether it was a quick cuddle, or lunch and laughs; we truly appreciate being able to have seen you! You have truly filled our buckets! We were so blessed to see our precious nephews. We met our brand new nephew, Noah, and Jordan even had the honour of officiating his dedication with his lovely mum and dad.

Though time and scheduling has meant that we haven’t been able to see everyone we wanted to see, we are so incredibly grateful to those who’d booked time with us! Over the past 7-8 weeks, we’ve had 11 speaking engagements, at 9 locations, in 7 different cities across England, Ireland and Northern Ireland, and we are so incredibly grateful to all of the Pastors and leaders who made time and space for us to share; thank you all so much! So many precious memories; from sharing our vision on a wonderful podcast, to meeting with others who share a heart for the people of Japan, and meals with people who so lovingly poured into us, and not forgetting, our time spent at The Elim Leaders Summit. What an amazing time of connecting, great teaching, and amazing worship. Thank you Lord for your kindness!

Upon our arrival to Japan, we reconnected with our lovely neighbour and her children who have often expressed their appreciation for England. Gift giving is a pretty common cultural practice here, so we bought them back a few souvenirs. After a very quick encounter we had with her at the train station, I’d greeted her with a hug, and a quick “we’ll come by later with some gifts”. Later came, and with gifts in hand, I’d given her another hug. She said, “may I share something with you?”, “of course” I said. “When you hugged me the first time, I was crying after you left. I’m Japanese so I don’t get hugs… and now you’ve hugged me again, I’m so happy. Please don’t stop”.

Interactions like this remind us of how powerful your ministry of presence can be. Sharing the love of God, through a hug. Praise the Lord that His kindness flows through us!

Next steps:

Some of you may know that we have been partnering with Japan Kingdom Church over the past 2 years. A wonderful grass roots church led by Pastor Marcel & Lady Chiaki. We’ve had the privilege and honour of being able to start, cultivate or grow different ministries within the church that have birthed communities, facilitated training, grown friendships and encouraged healing through counsel. We are all in alignment that our time at JKC will be coming to an end and we will be moving on from JKC from September, with love in our hearts for the leaders & members.

Our next steps will be to walk with intention, true to the vision we believe God has called us to Japan for. Firstly, placing a focus on learning the language here in Tokyo. This has been one of the biggest stumbling blocks to our efficacy. One that we don’t want to ignore, so this may look like part-time language school or tutoring. In addition to this, we hope to continue to partner with some of the Christian organizations who are doing a wonderful work in reaching those in the local communities across Tokyo; we’ll be sure to keep you posted once we have more updates!

Thank you to all of our current supporters for being such a fundamental part of this mission to shine the light and life of Jesus Christ to Japan.

In all transparency; without you, it’s just not possible. Your support matters, your funds make a HUGE difference, your prayers move things we cannot move alone. So, we ask, would you continue to partner with us?

With such a big season ahead of us, WE NEED YOU, more than we can express. Here’s how you can journey with us:

Prayer:

We have seen prayers answered that we didn’t know were prayed until we got back to the UK, and they were revealed to us. We believe that my kidney stone has gone because of our prayer warriors interceding even when the Urologist in the UK said that it’s not possible to pass without surgery. Your prayers matter!!!

Thank you to those who have been praying, would you continue to intercede on our behalf?

Please pray into this next season; that we remain committed to the vision that God has given us for our mission in Japan. That He grants us His favour and continues to equip us along the way, and for the hearts of Japanese people to be open to receive Jesus as their Lord and saviour.

Financial Sponsor:

We as Elim Missionaries are completely self-funded. We get by on the support and generosity of yourselves whose every single penny, euro or yen really matters. Not only to keep the lights on, but to travel to those we support, to buy the coffee for the Japanese person who understands of God’s love for them through that meeting, to open our house to discipleship and to facilitate the community events that bring Christian and non-Christians in the same space. None of which can happen without funding. So, would you consider partnership with us through financial sponsorship? It could be a one-off donation, or a regular monthly contribution, the cost of a Costa, or sponsorship towards the bigger vision. We appreciate your kindness, we appreciate you believing in us, and we are humbled by your commitment towards seeing Jesus in Japan!

Here’s a few things we’ll be needing provision for within the next 3 months:

  • Rental renewal: Our house is up for it’s renewal and it’s pretty normal to have some large fees as a part of renewing a rental agreement - often 2 months’ worth of rent to renew, so £1500. And at the same time, due to land price increases, our rent has also gone up (currently, the yen is very weak so it would be a great time to pay for this at a lower rate!).
  • Air Conditioning: Summertime heat & humidity in Japan can last from June-October and can be pretty brutal! We are hoping to raise funds because we are still without adequate air conditioning in our home. This will be a one-off cost of about £1000.
  • Visa Renewal: Our visas are due for renewal, and we are currently in the process. This year we’ve learned that the fees have increased from £30 to £150 each for visa renewals.
  • Language school: We hope to be enrolling in a language school, though part-time, as of September, which will cost around an extra £800 per month.

Join The Team:

After reviewing our first 2 years on mission in Japan, we’ve assessed that around 1/4 of our time has been spent on fundraising, communicating and ensuring we have enough funds for all practicalities, and ministry funds. Time that we may struggle to give in this coming season, especially as we have extra expenses to raise, i.e., housing renewal fees, language learning costs, legal fees, travelling to and from different prefectures for ministry. Due to this, we want to present the opportunity to partner with us as our ‘Fundraising Team’. Do you have a heart for missions? For seeing the love of Jesus shared across the Nations. Any experience in fundraising? (though this is not necessary) If so, please send us an email and we’d love to talk with you further about becoming a part of our Fundraising Team.

Thank you for sticking with us family. For all the fun photos, be sure to follow us on Instagram (@revjchristian & @nitashachristian) or find us on Facebook.

Please continue to pray for us on this journey! We are looking forward to sharing an update with you all very soon!

All our love,

Nitasha & Jordan
