Expanding our Reach: Robinson Ministry update - June 2026

Greetings from Lancaster!

We have been enjoying the warmer weather but have also been grateful that we have not had the higher temperatures affecting the south of the UK. Once again, Lancaster for the win

First, we want to say that we are so thankful for the people over the past few months who have decided to start supporting us financially. We are so blessed to be able to continue serving even while based in the UK

I (Ali) came back from our two weeks away in Thailand and Sri Lanka to what felt like a significant build-up of work. Over the last month and a bit I have been beavering away, trying to get back to a cleaner virtual desk.

Here is a quick example of one of the things I do for the Ethnologue. People go to our website, see some information that needs updating and write us a note (we refer to it as a contribution). I then pre-process that contribution, work out which of our regional editors needs to deal with it and pass it on to them. They then look into the contribution in detail, often do some additional research, and then, if they are happy with it, make the change to our data in our data entry platform, OSCAR. I then check what they have entered against the original contribution, do additional research if anything looks dubious, maybe have a conversation about it with the regional editor, and finally approve the change. When I got back from 2 weeks away, there were over 50 contributions sitting, waiting to be dealt with, a bit of a backlog!

Anyway, I finally feel like I am making progress on these and getting back to a point where I can afford to think about looking around to see what else needs doing!

Here is a fairly simple contribution to give you a taste!

Tim has also been kept busy, especially now that the situation in the Middle East has deteriorated again. He has been working on communications and processes to make sure that people (and those responsible for them) are considering the risks if they are booking flights to or through the Middle East.

When he isn't watching or reading the news and writing updates, Tim is training to run a half marathon on the 16th of August.  Our wonderful church in Lancaster is trying to pay off a building loan so they can focus our limited resources on serving the community.    If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing this with others—every bit helps us invest more in our community. Thank you for your support!

Dan is back home with us for the summer. He took a fun trip to Dundee with his flatmates after all their exams were done. Next year he will be in a new flat but with many of the same group, which we are very grateful for. Since he has been back home he has reconnected with the Friends of Lancaster Library and has been volunteering with them, helping at a cafe that they run in the Library to attract people in.

Praise

  • Ali starting to get caught up with work
  • Enjoying having Dan back home

Prayer

  • Continued focus and progress through Ali’s still long list
  • Peace in the Middle East

God bless!
Tim & Ali & Dan Robinson.
