Matt and Ellie Heywood News November 2025
This month we’ve been incredibly blessed to have Roger from Elim Missions visit us here in Coron. It’s been such an encouragement to have him around, and we’ve valued the wisdom and insight he has shared with us.
November has also been a month of preparation as we look ahead to Christmas. We’ve loved being part of the planning for our Christmas nativity and are excited for all that’s to come.
Light Party:
We had a fantastic Light Party at the end of the month, celebrating Jesus as the light in our lives! We explored how Jesus was a light in His community and how we can shine His light in ours. Everyone enjoyed taking part in a fun true or false quiz to test what we’d learned. We also got creative making “Jesus is the Light” cups — when you shine a torch through them, the colours glow beautifully and remind us of how vibrant life is when we walk in His light.
Typhoon Tino:
This month we’ve been learning a lot about typhoons and which weather apps are most reliable to use. At the beginning of November, Typhoon Tino hit the Philippines. Thanks be to Jesus, Coron was not badly affected in the end — we had expected it to be much worse.
Many families and communities had to move from their homes temporarily because their houses were not made of strong materials like concrete, which could have caused serious damage during the storm. They were relocated to school buildings and evacuation centres made of concrete for safety.
We were blessed to be able to prepare and deliver food to these families and communities, reaching five different locations in our area. It was a joy to serve and support them .
