Pray
Sarah Whittleston Circle

We are part of the global Church, following Jesus and sharing His love with those who don’t yet know Him. We desire to form communities who are led by Holy Spirit to participate in seeing the Kingdom come.

We have an our opportunity to stand with our brothers and sisters around the world. Some live out faith in difficult and dangerous contexts. Let’s pray bold prayers, just like the early church in Acts: “And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word…”

PSALM 27:1

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”

Prayer is crucial and underpins everything we do. We need people to pray like never before in an ever-changing world where we see the rise of evil.

Pray for the Nations is our weekly prayer update with prayer requests from our missionaries and partners across the globe.

Asia

Elim Global Partner leading a work in a Muslim nation where blasphemy laws are enacted against Christians

The work includes a school, outreach to slaves in bonded labour in factories, and a health centre which serves everyone of all faiths

Christians targeted to be trapped in bonded labour, including children although child labour is illegal in this nation

Prayer Points

  • For safety, wisdom and boldness to keep shining in the darkest times
  • That God will change the hearts of decision-makers regarding blasphemy laws
  • That many will come to faith in Christ

East Africa

“D” is an Elim Missionary serving in the Sahara desert, in a Salafi Muslim area. She has a vision to establish a house of prayer in the Oasis.

Being a Christian in the Oasis is not only dangerous, it is inconvenient - simply having a “Christian” name is enough to make the local bureaucracy slow down any application process.

Prayer Points

  • For the salvation of the Oasis
  • For the House of Prayer to be finished
  • For favour with the local authorities

Middle-East

Usama is our partner who has been helping distribute the support from our Elim Relief Appeal for the Middle East.

Persecution in Syria is not just against Christians, but also Druze and Alawite peoples.

Earlier this year we heard the news that Pastor Khaled, a church leader who was known to us through Usama, had been killed for his faith along with 11 others.

Much of the violence stems from the government since the fall of the Assad regime, although it is not officially sanctioned by the government.

Prayer Points

  • For the Druze, Alawite, and Christian people fleeing persecution
  • That the believers will be able to hold firmly to God’s Word
  • That the church will be a light to this area

West Africa

An Elim Missionary serving in West Africa, training and deploying church planters in an area under threat from Islamist extremists.

Christians facing violence for their faith in Christ, some have had assets seized, some have been killed.

Legal restrictions on Christians mean they have to be creative in how they live out their faith.

Prayer Points

  • For the physical needs of our persecuted brothers and sisters
  • For resilience and strength to continue living for Christ
  • That God will give them the capacity to be a blessing to their persecutors
