Expanding our Reach: Robinson Ministry update - July 2025
Greetings from Lancaster!
July has been a busy birthday month. We all added a year to our tally with Dan reaching the notable age of 21. Our 3 birthday celebrations included a picnic at a favourite beach, a trip to Alton Towers and a Korean takeaway. I’ll leave you to guess what was requested by whom!
Ali’s search for Ethnologue regional editors has borne some fruit and we now only have two open positions out of the original 5 that we were looking for. Please continue to pray that we will find the right people to fill these remaining two positions.
We had the privilege of participating in the Wycliffe UK member’s gathering in mid-July. It was a chance to get together with others who are involved with Wycliffe UK’s ministry. We had some great times of worship, some helpful informative sessions and opportunities to relax together and catch up.
Dan has been enjoying getting more involved with the Friends of Lancaster Library. He had fun helping with a Dino Day, offering dinosaur-related crafts to encourage children to connect with the library. He has also initiated a board game table during one of the cafes that they run in the library. It is encouraging to see him flourishing and enjoying these new opportunities. He has been trying to connect with Student Finance this month and work out how this will work for him as he repeats his first year. Please pray that this will come together in a timely way.
We had a lovely mini-holiday this month as we had our good friends the Holman’s come and stay. Ian and Lizz are both Wycliffe UK MKs (Missionary Kids), as are Tim and I. They are both working with Wycliffe UK themselves, as are Tim and I. They spent time as a family in Nigeria, with a significant overlap with Tim, Dan and me. The comparisons go on . . . but most importantly we all enjoy one another’s company! Squeezing an additional family of six into our modest 3 bed semi is always a fun challenge. Thankfully, we have a large carpeted loft space, which came in very handy. While they were here, we had fun outings to scour the charity shops in town, visit the castle and enjoy the beach.
Our next mini “holiday” will be travelling up to Dundee at the end of August to help with the preparations and execution of Tim’s sister Sarah’s wedding. It will be a lot of work but I’m sure there will also be plenty of good times with family.
