People of Culture, Clarity and Connection

Romans 12:2 (NLT)
"Don't copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."

We live in a noisy, chaotic world! The world has opinions that are loud, truth that is often blurred or murky, and uncertainty that seems constant. YET, in the bible we are called to be different. In the midst of all this chaos we are to be a people of God's Culture, His clarity and a connection to others.

I have felt convicted recently to make sure that in all that I do I live a life of peace and clarity. As we see a rise in Generation Z, young adults, seeking truth, as Christians we need to be ready to live that example that Jesus set for us, of clarity. A life set apart from the traditions and cultures of this world. A life that is counter-cultural that will put others first, instead of seeking self gratification and success. A life that will serve instead of being served. A life that will not compromise, or bend to fit in with the world but will remain consistent.

The world is desperate for people who will speak truth, be honest, have integrity and keep commitments. My prayer is that we can be those people, to shine our lights in a world that feels like it is getting darker and darker. There is no greater example to follow than Jesus, no better answer to the troubles of the world than His word, the bible, and no better way to live life than to trust that God has a perfect, good and pleasing plan for your life.

City Gates turned 19

In September we celebrated the 19th birthday of City Gates Academy. It is incredibly to think about how the ministry and work of the academy has grown in this time. From 4 classes with 60 children to, now, 10 classes with 150 children! It is an immense privilege to be involved in shaping these children's lives and providing them with a great foundation for life-long learning.

Christmas 2024

This year, at the academy we decided to do things a little different. Instead of a nativity play, inviting people to our school we decided to take the Christmas story out to the community. We identified 4 different locations and there we held a Christmas party and told the Christmas Nativity story.

In addition, we fed more than 1,000 people. Sometimes, it is good to break away from tradition and especially if it means that more people got to celebrate and hear the good news!

Overnight Prayer Meeting

What better way to start 2025 than with an overnight prayer meeting. At the beginning of January the Living Epistle Church hosted and invited all their church plants to join for an overnight prayer meeting. It was a privilege to be invited to lead one of the sections on mission and encourage everyone to get involved and consider how everyone is called to mission! These nights are truly very special and it was a blessed time.

When family visit...

One of the most encouraging things as a missionary is when your family and friends come to visit. In February, it was such a blessing to have then visit. They got stuck in working alongside me at the academy, experiencing a typical day in my life. They also helped me prepare some training, lead a first aid seminar and Kevin married 3 couples during the mass wedding. This was then followed by some great RnR time. Such a blessing!

Another school year is over!

Congratulations to another batch of City Gates Academy graduates. I feel like this year flew by so quickly! I thank God for another opportunity to have impacted and influenced another batch of students who will hopefully continue to build on the strong foundation that has been laid during their time at City Gates Academy.

Please continue to pray for them as they move on to big school and learn to adapt to their new environments.
