Moores in Macedonia: February 2022

Hi everyone.

We hope 2022 has begun well for you all. As you can probably tell from the title, our latest update isn’t being sent to you from our usual location.

We are currently nearing the end of a whirlwind first visit to the UK since the summer of 2019. We had forgotten what life is like over here – we have seen more rain in a month than in a whole year in Macedonia, and we have had to get used to life driving on the left again (no incidents so far!)

So you might wonder why we are sending you an update? Well we have been so incredibly blessed by the body of Christ during our visit and been so well looked after during our time that we feel it is just as valuable a testimony to the goodness of God as the work He does in transforming lives around the world.

Here are just a few examples of God’s goodness to us during our time in the UK:

  • Provision of accommodation. We have had to move around quite a bit, at the time of writing we are in our third home, but we have been so overwhelmed by people’s generosity in giving us places to stay and even the locations have been the work of God. Our current and previous accommodation have been within walking distance or a very short drive to close friends of ours.
  • Grace upon the children. One of the biggest challenges of visits such as ours is that children are moved around from place to place, often at quite a pace and they get to meet a lot of people who know them but they themselves may not remember! But God’s grace upon Kristen and Josiah has been amazing and we are really pleased with how they have responded and adapted to the challenges and how busy we have been (although Josiah has decided he doesn’t like cheddar cheese so we are wondering if he is actually our child!).
  • Financial Provision. There have been a lot of costs involved with travelling and the testing requirements to enter the UK but God has been faithful in providing all we need.
  • Meeting People. During our time here we have enjoyed catching up with friends and family. But it has also been wonderful to meet so many new people as we have toured the country visiting churches to share about what God is doing in Macedonia. It has been such a joy to strengthen existing relationships and develop new ones and we are thankful for the welcome we have received in the churches we have visited.
  • Premier Inn Breakfast. No, we aren’t on commission, but we have stayed in a few of these on our travels and the kids in particular have enjoyed the range of different food, and the chance to eat unlimited quantities of baked beans (we have packed a few cans to take back as well!)

There is so much more to we could say but we want to finish this update by saying an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who has accommodated us, fed us, made us a cup of tea or supported us in any way during our time in the UK. You have been amazing and you are a testimony to the goodness and faithfulness of God.

Prayer

Thank you to those of you who pray for us, please would you keep the following in your prayers:

  • For safe travels back to Macedonia
  • For a good re-entry into Macedonia in particular that Kristen and Josiah will settle well back into routines and life overseas.
  • As we re-start ministry work, that we would go back in refreshed and ready for what God wants to do.

Thank you so much for reading our update, please feel free to get in touch and let us know your news!

Love
Ian, Katie, Kristen and Josiah.
