James & Andrea Reeve

We are James and Andrea Reeve, we were married in Sri Lanka in 2008, we are both trained as mental health nurses.

We came from very different backgrounds, I (James) grew up in a Christian home and made a decision that Jesus was my Saviour in my teenage years. I (Andrea) had no personal knowledge or understanding of Jesus, until I completed an Alpha course prior to our marriage.  Since this time, we have been involved in a variety of ministries as a couple and individually.

We currently worship at Stafford Elim Christian Centre, where we are actively involved in working with the youth. We have previously been involved in a youth outreach based on a double decker bus, and a number of adult focused community Christian projects

Our Journey

Our first short term mission trip abroad was to Cambodia in 2015, during this trip the experience of sharing the gospel of Jesus with unreached communities was a turning point in our lives. God’s call for us to go on long term mission was unmissable and we started our exciting journey with Elim Missions. In preparation to go on long term mission we began the first Elim Missions Academy and as part of this time of preparation we had a short-term mission trip to Uganda in February 2017.

We felt God guiding us back to Sri Lanka to serve and take the gospel to unreached communities there. We spent 2 weeks there in September 2017 and felt confirmation that this was where God wants us to be. We were given a heart for the people specifically in the central province or “up country” as they call it, where the people work mainly on the tea plantations and living in more remote and difficult to reach areas. There is a lot of poverty and difficult living conditions for the people in this area. It would be our ultimate aim to work in this area longer term to help with children’s work, teaching English and providing basic health care and sharing the gospel through these means.

We are unable though currently to obtain the required visas to enable us to remain long term in Sri Lanka at this present time and so explored an alternative exciting opportunity to serve with a church in the Tamil Nadu area of India where we can be involved in children’s ministry, develop English lessons and support the church in reaching the unreached in the community. We will also have the opportunity to develop and learn the Tamil language and complete some short-term outreach visits to Sri Lanka.

We are excited to be preparing to move to India at the end of February 2018.

The excitement we feel is accompanied by trepidation of what the future may hold for us but we hold fast to the realisation and trust that God has full control of our future and has gone before us to prepare the way.
