Lynette Orange: JANUARY NEWSLETTER 2016

Happy New Year 2016! A new year and a new look! As I enter my 5th year I thought it was about time for a revamp for my newsletters! I hope you like the new design and hopefully it is a little more condensed and easier to read.

If 2015 was anything to go by we are definitely in for an exciting time in 2016. As is customary it is always during the Christmas season and New Year we reflect over the past year and truly last year was a jampacked year! There were so many wonderful events, answers to prayers, developments and expansions that if God always promises to do immeasurably more than I can think or imagine then this year promises to be even greater. I am excited by the prospects, if not a little daunted too! But I know that He who begins a good work is faithful to see it to completion. All we have to do is submit and trust in Him and be obedient.

Below are a descriptions of what has been happening here over the past few months! I am so thankful to those who faithfully encourage the work of City Gates and pray that you are equally blessed!

My Best Friends’ Wedding!

It is a blessing to be a part of a wedding when it’s your best friend! I was doubly blessed as my two best friends married each other. Growing up together from birth this wedding was extra special. The chance to be home and stand with them as they begin this new journey together was a privilege and a blessing. And as well all said on the day…. “About time!” A beautiful wedding and a great chance to ‘pop’ home and see everyone again!

Coron Grand Opening

On the 7 November, almost exactly 2 years to the day that typhoon Haiyan devastatingly struck the Philippines we stood together to open a new chapter in the lives of the people of Coron. In the words of the leader of the community “no one wants a typhoon, but we are so thankful that out of something tragic, something new has begun”. Without the typhoon we would never have known about the small community in Guadalupe, Coron and 2 years on we are now excited to be starting operations of a new pre-school and church!

Future Plans and Provision

Just one day before boarding the plane to the UK in October we receive an email requesting us to meet with a local Christian Charity in the Philippines. They had contacted us a few months before to ask us what our plans were and how they could help. We were totally blown away to find out that the meeting was to present us with funds that would enable us to start the foundations of our new Primary School! God is so good!!!

Christmas Wedding Bells!

Christmas is never a dull moment at City Gates! This year was no exception. Less than 12 hours after the nativity play, the place was transformed and volunteers busy working to give 6 couples the day of their dreams! Truly a sight to behold. One of the things I love most about the academy is that we are not just focused on the children but we provide also for their families and community.

With love always,

Lynette
