A call to prayer as we IMAGINE the future of Elim

As we move into the start of 2017, the leadership of Elim is calling each of us to imagine and pray into the future of Elim.

We are in a new season of Elim's history. One where we are calling the leaders and members of Elim to come together in order to listen to what the Spirit is saying to us. It is a specific time for us to renew our commitment to the core issues of our calling and purpose, and to step out with faith, with renewed commitment, into the fresh adventures that the Holy Spirit has for us.

A call you prayer throughout January

In our ever changing spiritual climate, it is increasingly essential for Elim to know who we are in God and our identity as a movement of Pentecostal people. It is vital for us to be clear about our calling and vision, as well as establish the values and principles which bind us together. This will shape how we make Jesus known and spread his transforming.

Vision for the future must begin with a fresh encounter with God, in prayer and worship, with an open heart before God. That is why the leadership of Elim is calling the Movement to a month of prayer in January, along with a special day of  prayer and encounter for Elim leaders on Wednesday 11 January.

As individual believers, and in our Elim churches, we will take time out throughout January to come before God in prayer, and begin to imagine what He may want to accomplish in and through us in this coming year.

As we allow the Holy Spirit to engage with us, let’s be motivated to pray that this year of 2017 will be a landmark year, not only for the Elim Movement, but also for the spiritual life of our nation.

Free Prayer Guide

To help guide your prayers, LIFT UP has produced a free prayer guide that provides four weekly themes for you to use in your church meetings and groups as we turn our focus to IMAGINE - Shaping Elim's Future. They can be used in corporate as well as individual prayer times.

During this month of prayer, our core scripture is taken from Ephesians 3:16-20

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.

This month we want to think about 'breakthrough'. As we pray, we partner with God in His Kingdom purposes.
We believe that a key word for us in 2019 is ‘Alignment’. What would it look like to align our heart with God’s? How can we, as a movement, align with one another?
At the start of the New Year many of us will be looking ahead with anticipation. It is an opportunity to commit again to personal renewal, to praying for one another, to seeking God’s will and direction and interceding on behalf of our nation.
