Challenge Ministries

Hope lives here, Freedom is found here, Changed lives leave here.

Swaziland has the highest HIV rate in the world. An estimated 16,000 people die as a result of HIV each year - that is 45 people each day. Consequently there are too many children living on their own without families and often bringing up children themselves. Life expectancy has dropped from nearly 60 years old in the 1990s to just over 30 years today. Nearly 70 percent of the population lives below the poverty line and abuse of women and girls has become almost acceptable. The vision of Challenge Ministries is an awesome one as they share the love of Jesus relevantly to a seemingly hopeless and dying country.

Challenge Ministries is working towards reversing these statistics with various ministries including The Potter's Wheel Church, based in the capital Mbabane, a Teen Challenge discipleship programme providing 12 months free residential drug and alcohol treatment for men; Hawane Farm, a children's home providing a 'family' environment for children suffering from the loss of parents; a residential Life Skills Centre for men and women; a women's refuge, supporting women who have suffered domestic abuse; a feeding programme; a community church planting programme called In Community By Community - currently there are three of these and the vision is to plant 60 throughout Swaziland.

The Vision of Challenge Ministries is: To compassionately WIN Swaziland, through partnering with like-minded individuals, churches and organisations; to TRAIN up a remnant to preserve the future by becoming an accurate representation of Christ being lived out amongst communities; to SEND out empowered believers from a restored Swaziland to a world in need.
