Supporting our ministers

At Elim, we believe that those who minister to others deserve to be well supported themselves

The Elim Movement at a glance

Elim is one of the UK's largest Pentecostal denominations, with a growing number of connected ministers and churches across the nation.

675+ credentialled ministers serving across the UK and throughout the world
500+ churches within Elim across the United Kingdom and Ireland
100+ chaplains engaged in chaplaincy ministry across a wide range of contexts

These figures reflect not just the breadth of Elim's reach, but the depth of our commitment to raising up and resourcing those called to serve.

How we are structured to support you

work

Director of Ministry

At the heart of ministerial support within Elim is the Director of Ministry, who has strategic oversight of the care, development and wellbeing of ministers across the Movement.

Outward

Regional Leaders

Six Regional Leaders work across the UK and Ireland, providing closer, more localised support to ministers within their regions. They are a key point of contact for pastoral care, guidance and accountability, and play a vital role in helping ministers feel connected to something larger than their local context.

Network Teams

Within each region, Network Teams work alongside Regional Leaders to support ministers and help develop and deliver regional vision. These teams are an important part of how Elim works as a genuine network, not just a denomination, where relationship and collaboration are central to how we do ministry together.

Lifelong learning and development

support

Elim holds a clear expectation that its ministers will pursue lifelong learning and continued professional and spiritual growth. Over the past five years, we have invested in a range of training and development programmes for our ministers, including:

  • Coaching
One-to-one coaching training to help ministers grow in leadership and recognise the gifting and calling in those they serve.
  • Bonhoeffer Project
A leadership development journey drawing on the life and theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, designed to deepen ministers' theological grounding and leadership capacity.
  • Next Level Leaders
A programme equipping ministers with the leadership skills and frameworks needed for effective ministry in a contemporary context.

We continue to develop and offer training opportunities for our ministers, and support a regular rhythm of Regional Events - gatherings within each region offering training, connection and encouragement.

If you would like to know more about current training opportunities available to you, please contact the Ministry Team.

Ministerial guidelines, roles & responsibilities

The Professional Ministerial Guidelines set out the standards and expectations that underpin ministerial life and practice within the Elim Movement.

Along with the guide to Ministers roles & responsibilities, these documents are made available to credentialled ministers exclusively through Elim Hub.

Journeying into retirement

Ministry is a lifelong calling, and Elim is committed to walking alongside ministers as they transition into retirement. We recognise that this is a significant life stage — one that deserves proper preparation, pastoral care and ongoing support.

We work with ministers to plan for retirement in good time, ensuring the transition is handled with dignity, and that ministers feel valued and connected to the Elim family beyond their years of active service.

If you are beginning to think about retirement, or would simply like to understand what support is available, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Ministry Team.
