Power for Living

“More Lord”: the story behind the Holy Spirit Course

Mark Pugh sits down with Eric Gaudion for a special episode exploring why the Holy Spirit Course was created, and why it matters now. From a renewed hunger for the Spirit’s empowering presence to the need for clear, accessible Pentecostal teaching, Eric shares the vision behind the seven-session resource and how it can serve churches, small groups, and individuals.

Together they reflect on the Baptism in the Holy Spirit as a turning point for mission and witness, the importance of teaching that leads into encounter, and the simple invitation Jesus gives to ask, seek, and keep on knocking. It’s an honest, faith-stirring conversation that points beyond theory to a life lived in step with the Spirit.

Why the Holy Spirit Course, and why now

Mark and Eric talk candidly about a growing hunger for more of the Spirit’s power, and the sense that many churches have lost momentum over time. Eric shares how the course was born from real conversations with leaders who are longing to see believers filled again and churches thrive in the Spirit.

From teaching to encounter

A key thread is that experience matters, but understanding lays foundations. Eric reflects on how clear, accessible teaching helped spark hunger in his own journey, and why many today need fresh, Pentecostal teaching on the Holy Spirit, the baptism in the Spirit, and life in the Spirit.

Seven sessions, built for local churches

Eric outlines the shape of the course and how it’s designed to be flexible. Churches can use it in services, small groups, or as a next step after Alpha, with videos and guides that make it easy to run without specialist knowledge.

More than a “canned” experience

The conversation pushes back on the idea that the Holy Spirit only moves in big meetings. Eric shares stories of God meeting people in ordinary moments, reminding leaders that the Spirit’s work is personal and often wonderfully varied, while still rooted in Scripture and prayer.

A call to ask, seek, and keep on asking

The episode closes with a simple encouragement. Create space, teach clearly, pray expectantly, and invite people to seek the Spirit’s fullness with confidence that God delights to give good gifts.
