The sandwiches kept coming

Sharing Jesus and meeting needs among Romania’s children and Roma communities with the Corabia Foundation.

We’ve all heard the stories of God multiplying food in the Bible, like the widow’s oil in 2 Kings 4, or the Feeding of the 5,000 in the Gospels. What if I told you that God is still able to do these things today?

Recently I was in Romania with Elim Missionary Liz Face, who leads the Corabia Foundation. Their mission is to bring the good news of the gospel to the children and teens of the Romanian community and the nearby Roma community.

While I was with her, Liz told me the story of a team that had come to her from a church in Utah. One of their outreaches was to a Roma community that lives around what’s known as the municipal dump. There are about 3-4 Roma communities that live there, experiencing great poverty. Liz and the team travelled there to minister to the kids, singing songs and giving out food and hygiene kits, really just being an expression of the love of God to them!
Before they left, they made 97 sandwiches to give out, but when the kids arrived it was clear that there were more children than sandwiches. Liz guessed there were over 120 children. They decided to give out the sandwiches to as many children as they could, so they lined the children up and began giving out the food.

The children kept coming, and so did the sandwiches! Every single child received a sandwich, and it wasn’t until the last child received that the sandwiches ran out. Praise God for multiplication and His provision!

The work Liz and her team are doing is absolutely incredible. Liz is coming to the end of her time in Romania, as family needs are calling her back to the UK. We are praying for a succession plan for this vital work, although Liz is someone I would describe as irreplaceable! If God is stirring your heart for the children and young people of Romania, please get in touch with us, we’d love to talk to you!
