Elim Missions team’s epic effort raises over £6,000

The team at Elim Missions has raised more than £6,000 after two epic fundraising challenges.

Missions Director Iain Hesketh and fundraiser Linda Murray tackled two walking marathons in two days across London’s North and South circular routes, while Irish Mission Director Roy Johnston cycled a whopping 137 miles in four days.

Iain said, “June is always a significant month in the life of our Movement as we remember our missionaries who gave their lives for the sake of Christ in the Vumba, Zimbabwe. Elim Missions has sought to honour the memory of our heroes of faith over the years by raising funds so that we can further our existing work and enable us to make more disciples for Jesus in more nations. It was with this in mind that we came up with the idea of the challenge for this year.

Iain continues, “The marathons were relentless; physically demanding and mentally exhausting, but so worth it! Lloyd Cheshire, senior pastor at Barking Elim, made an impromptu decision to join us for the second marathon having only originally intending to do ten miles. Linda and I were so pleased he joined us. We all felt a massive sense of achievement to cross the finish line, all the more so because we raised over £5,000 along with more than £1,000 that Roy raised from his cycle ride.

“We are excited about the possibilities this finance is going to create, along with the generosity of those who took offerings on Mission Sunday on June 23. Once I’ve recovered, I’ll start thinking about next year’s challenge!”
